Carol J. Friday


Carol J. Friday has devoted her career to workplace learning and development. She has broad experience with diverse multinational and multicultural workforces in the United States, Asia and the Middle East.

As a Learning Consultant, Carol helps clients improve organizational performance through (1) leadership and professional development; (2) enhanced business communication; (3) technology-based learning solutions; and (4) targeted performance-improvement change initiatives.

Most recently, Carol worked for the Saudi Arabian Oil Company
(Saudi Aramco), where she coordinated and facilitated the company’s flagship leadership program, which targets high-potential middle management. Topics include leadership, thinking strategically, managing innovation and ethics. Carol’s sessions on effective team-building helped participants develop close-knit, dynamic teams capable of learning the most from the program. She also provided workshops in Team Alignment, Time Management, and Effective Business Communication. For American Business Associates in New York, she facilitated mini-workshops for small-business owners in basic business skills, sales techniques, marketing, raising customer satisfaction, and networking skills.

Carol has in-depth experience coaching individuals and teams in business communication and effective interpersonal communication. At Saudi Aramco, she coached various levels of management and employees who participated in the flagship leadership program, with an emphasis on communication. She coached professional trainers on their presentation and teaching techniques, and facilitated workshops in Effective Business Communication skills, including a coaching element. While working in Korea with Citibank of New York, she helped banking employees and management improve personal communication skills and effective business writing. She taught business communication at the Korean Overseas Development Corporation in Seoul, in conjunction with the Peace Corps. In Arizona, she taught business English and communication to multinational graduate students at the American Graduate School of International Management (“Thunderbird”).

For many years, Carol played a major role in developing and implementing a comprehensive corporate e-learning initiative for Saudi Aramco. She assessed corporate learning needs; helped evaluate and select learning technologies and courseware; piloted numerous e-learning courses; developed a corporate e-learning strategy; and marketed the sweeping new learning culture throughout the company. She performed several ROI studies of e-learning and blended learning solutions.

Carol has presented at several international conferences and has written articles and book sections about leadership development, building cross-cultural awareness, working in virtual teams, and e-learning collaboration.

Carol received a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development from the University of Minnesota. She holds several certifications, including Leading Organizational Change (ASTD) and Human Performance Technology (ISPI). She is a certified Online Instructor (UCLA). She also holds a Master’s Degree in English from the State University of New York College at Buffalo and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from St. Lawrence University.
